My poor little jalepeno plant! I tend to leave the plants in the garden and then till them under in the spring. Sort of a compost if you will. The plants break down by composting and adds some nutrients to the soil for the next year. I usually end up with volunteer plants in various places through the garden. Sometimes they produce veggies, sometimes not.
