A tale of 6 shirts

This weekend I was very productive in the sewing room.  I managed to churn out 6 shirts for various recipients.  In no particular order.....

3 Farbenmix Antonias.  Have I mentioned how much I adore this pattern?  I have made enough of these shirts to outfit a small village.  There are 2 for my niece in NY and one for my nephew in OR.  My niece is a tween and her favorite color is green so she gets this in size 158......



And this is a cool rock and roll print, also in size 158.



My nephew gets a cute little Halloween Antonia in Ooga Booga in size 86. Please don't tell him this is a girl pattern, he may hate me forever for it.



Next up are 2 shirts for my girlies. Nin's is a regular shirt made to match a pair of brown cords I made here several weeks ago. KK's has an additional 7 in. of length to make it more tunic like so she can wear it with leggings. Like every other 9 year old in her school.

Are you ready for Portland?

We went to Portland over a month ago so I thought it was finally time to post some pictures.

After lunch we went back to the beach and ran into these folks. Baby Avie!









Nano took KK clear out into the water. But because there was this weird little inlet thingy ma bob it wasn't deep.



In addition to Sunny's wedding there was also a 1st birthday for baby Theo, who from now on shall be called Theo Leo, Theo rama or Theoranasaurus Rex.

No crying over spilt milk

So, you know how you are not supposed to cry over spilt milk? What about if it happens at 8:05am and the bus is coming to pick up the kids at 8:15 and now you have to find something else for them to eat for breakfast? Can you cry then?





What about if the kids are making chocolate milk? Is it okay then?

Project Runway

A few years ago I started watching PR and now I don't think I could live without it. Seriously, it is so important to me that I watched last night's dvr'd episode while sitting on Nin's hardwood bedroom floor. For those of you who have been to my house, my tv is the 51 in. monster in the living room. And occasionally it does this weird thing where it blinks out and won't turn back on for hours. Last night was one of those nights. About 20 min. in to the show it blinked out. So I had to resort to sitting on Nin's bedroom floor to watch!

Anyways this post is less about my tv problems and more about the trainwreck last night.

Designers I liked...
Andy- he totally deserved to win last night. Great stuff and that dress (that vaguely looked like a skeleton suit) was very cool.
Mondo- loved the circle jacket of his. And he is totally awe inspiring. I just want to snatch him up and tell him everything will be okay.

Designers I was "meh" about...
April- I have always been just okay with her stuff. If this were Project Okay, she would definitely win.
Christopher- while he has always been okay, he just doesn't make as many showstopping pieces and I guess it was his time to go. Although is a hotty and I would totally keep him around for some eye candy. ;)

Designers who were not so great.....
Gretchen- really. Could she have a bigger head? But this show isn't about who has the best personality, its about design, and she makes some cool things, but not last night.
Michael- why is he still here?

But the train wreck. Wow! Could Ivy be anymore bitchy? I actually laughed when the needle popped out of the machine and poked her in the eye. Very 3rd grade of me huh? And please don't vote me off the island, but Casanova was so funny and cute last night. He should win Project Personality!

KK's new hair

KK got a haircut yesterday after begging for weeks. She was sure she wanted 5 inches cut off and that is exactly what she asked for when she got in the chair. Then she made the comment that she wasn't sure how much 5 inches was. So she told the lady that she wanted it to reach her shoulders, which was actually 6 inches! She looks so grown up now I can't believe it. I guess I better believe it, she is 9 after all.

My last stash game item

This is the last stash game item I made on Wed. evening. I didn't even sew on Thursday! Below are the comical pictures my 6 year old took. I only made the black linen tunic. I have to wear it with a belt because without I look like a tank.

A new party dress

As I posted in my last Flashback Friday post Nin has a party dress that I made her 2 years ago. She loves to wear it to parties so she can be all fancy. Well since she is outgrowing it, I decided she needed another. I stayed up late 2 nights in a row working on this party dress and it was all worth it because she LOVES IT!!! It's the best party dress ever!

I used some Hannah Montana cotton on the main part. I also broke out some ribbon and vintage lace from my Grandma. Mimi gave me a few bags of lace left over from her sewing days and some of the pieces still had tags on them. The oldest pieces I found were from 1974! From before I was even born!!

Pattern:
Farbenmix Roxy in a woven, instead of knit like KK's.
Size 134 with extra seam allowance so I could insert a zipper.
